Kushner Companies #1

Netflix – Dirty Money: “Slumlord Millionaire”

As Jared Kushner rose from real estate heir to White House adviser, reporters and housing advocates uncovered disturbing patterns at his properties.

In June 2019, New York State passed landmark legislation to protect tenants, outlawing a number of practices exploited by Kushner Companies.

One month earlier, Kushner Companies finalized a $1.15 billion deal to purchase an additional 6,030 rental apartments across 16 properties in Virginia and Maryland.

The deal was financed by $800 million in loans backed by Freddie Mac, which is owned by the U.S. government and led by a Trump appointee.
